Self Defense On Campus - College Safety

Close to 20 million students are heading off to college this fall. Many of them are already there. Nearly 25% of them are freshmen and have a potentially wonderful experience staring them in the face. But as parents of these new students, in our opinion, you have an absolute responsibility to make your children aware of the potential dangers that await them on a college campus. Did you know that 25% or more of all college age women are sexually assaulted in their four years at an institution of higher learning? Did you know that many of those assailants-close to 90%-are known to the victims? That's because many of them are fellow students that they meet at social events, especially in the first three or four months of school. The social experience is a critical part of the college experience. There is enormous pressure on young, inexperienced freshmen women to try out new things that are often not only illegal but potentially dangerous. Binge drinking at fraternity and sorority parties can easily get out of hand. The use of drugs falls in that same category. Many people feel that sexual assault on a college campus is committed by perpetrators that are not part of the college community. Let me tell you that is not the case. Another part of a parent's responsibility is to help the new students learn how to protect their belongings in their dorm room that they will more than likely share with at least one other student. That can be done with a variety of diversion safes. These are hollowed out items that are commonly seen in a normal household that will fit in just about anywhere. They are meant to hold small valuables such as cash, credit cards and jewelry. Room security is another issue to be concerned about. Every year, sexual assaults occur inside a college dorm room. A very basic Door Stop Alarm can help prevent unwanted entry into a room. But most of all, personal security must be taken seriously. A self-defense course can help. But we recommend that all female students on a college campus carry some kind of self-defense product such as one of our selection of powerful Pepper Sprays or stun guns. Taking these precautions to safeguard your personal belongings and your personal safety and security will help ensure a more enjoyable college career and avoid the tragedy of a personal sexual assault or the loss of personal belongings. Guardian Self-Defense & Security Products LLC is one of the largest most trusted online distributors of non-lethal self-defense items and surveillance equipment in the US. We specialize in premium pepper spray, mace, personal alarms, stun batons and more. We are "The Self Defense Product Experts"!
